Dear NMFT Members,
We want to provide you with an update on our 2025–2026 contract reopener negotiations. Your NMFT negotiating team met yesterday, Thursday 10/23/25 and today, Friday 10/24/25 for negotiations with the District.
While we made progress in areas, the parties could not come to an agreement over salary increases. The District proposed a last, best and final salary increase of two percent (2%). This was not acceptable to your negotiation team as it does not even come close to the cost of living adjustments, current inflation rates, etc. Our district is in a far better financial situation than other districts who provided salary increases larger than two percent (2).
NMFT strongly believes you are worth and deserve more than the 2% salary offer. The district is unwilling to move on salary. Our team wanted to continue negotiating in the hopes to reach an agreement. The district determined that bargaining is no longer productive and they have declared an impasse. The Public Employment Relations Board will certify the impasse prior to intervening in negotiations moving forward. Details on the impasse process will be included in future updates.
We and your NMFT site representatives will be reaching out with opportunities on how you can help. We will make it out of this stronger and better with your support. With our members alongside us, we hope to get the raise we deserve. Your patience and support is deeply appreciated.
We are Stronger Together!
